Dunollie Castle is situated just on the northern outskirts of Oban on the west coast of Scotland.
These ruins offer spectacular views overlooking the northern entrance of Oban harbour.
The castle was the seat of the MacDougalls, the Lords of Lorne, who once owned a third of Scotland. The castle is undergoing consolidation work (2013/2014).
The 1745 House at Dunollie is a new museum and cultural centre including the renowned Hope MacDougall Collection, a fascinating social history collection drawn from throughout the Highlands and Islands.
It has exhibitions and a range of activities for all ages.
